Adam Shepherd has been cutting through the noise for business leaders for more than a decade. His award-winning work as a journalist and editor has included leading major titles and spearheading new launches, with previous tenures at major magazine houses including Future Publishing and Haymarket Media Group.

As a specialist in B2B and trade media, Adam has reported across multiple distinct industries and can quickly immerse himself in new sectors. Previous positions include editor of MICE powerhouse Conference and Incentive Travel (C&IT), founding editor of trailblazing podcast industry trade publication PodPod, and reviews editor of business tech mainstay IT Pro.

Adam’s career in journalism started in 2014. His first role, fresh from his English Literature degree, was a temporary work experience placement at IDG’s PC Advisor — which he got by walking in the front door and asking to see the editor. This was followed by an internship at Dennis Publishing’s PC Pro, and a temporary cover contract at sister publication IT Pro. While his original goal was to transition to a full-time job in games journalism, his time at IT Pro swiftly revealed his love of B2B publishing.

Alongside written editorial content, Adam has also spent a significant portion of his career developing brand extensions and multimedia projects. In addition to revamping the research and data-gathering process for C&IT's flagship State of the Industry and Top 50 Agencies reports, he coordinated the IT Pro Panel: an advisory board of 20 C-Level brand executives that contributed regular insights and feedback to the publication.

Podcasting has been a significant focus throughout his career. He developed and launched the Dennis Podcast Network under Dennis Publishing, as well as launching and co-hosting the IT Pro Podcast. He also worked directly with some of Haymarket Media Group’s flagship titles such as Campaign and PR Week on developing their audio strategy as head of podcasts for the company’s marketing and communications portfolio. He has been part of judging panels for multiple award schemes, including the Independent Podcast Awards and the Publisher Podcast Awards.

Live events have been a natural extension of this, and Adam has chaired major brand events such as C&IT’s series of Corporate, Agency and International Forums; its Festival of Forums and Incentive Retreat; and the Podcast Growth Summit and Podcast Advertising Summit from PodPod and Campaign. Alongside hosting and moderation, Adam has also helped craft the programme agendas for many of these events. He has opened major award shows including the British Podcast Awards and the C&IT Awards.

On the commercial side, Adam has made a point of maintaining strong working relationships between sales and editorial teams, based on his conviction that open and honest communication results in better outcomes and deeper trust for all parties, including clients, readers and staff. His client-facing work has included whitepaper creation, webinar hosting, chairing of closed-door roundtables, and podcast recording, as well as consulting on campaign content strategy for both written and multimedia content programmes.

Adam is based in East London with his wife, where he spends his time playing videogames, taking photographs and drinking far too much poorly-made coffee.
